Twitter will soon begin offering photo filters as part of its mobile apps in a bid to let users bypass Instagram, according to The New York Times. Twitter appears poised to take on Instagram directly by offering sets of photo filters through its mobile apps, according to a report in The New York Times. The Times reported that “in the coming months, Twitter plans to update its mobile applications to introduce filters for photos that will allow people to share altered images on Twitter and bypass Instagram.”
If true, this would potentially be a very big move for Twitter, because it could keep people taking photos on smartphones from using the Facebook-owned Instagram altogether. Whether or not Twitter could create as passionate a community around the taking and sharing of such photos as Instagram has would be an open question. Another question is whether users would be able to share their filtered photos from Twitter’s apps to Facebook. Twitter did not immediately respond to a reviewer that request for comment.
“According to one Twitter employee, the company’s V.I.T.’s, or Very Important Tweeters, as they are known internally, usually celebrities and media personalities, would be especially happy to see filters in the Twitter mobile apps,” the Times wrote. “Most V.I.T.’s now use Instagram to take photos, and then share them on Twitter, where they often have a larger following.”
Some think that Facebook bought Instagram in the first place in part to keep it out of Twitter’s hands. Subsequently, Twitter is thought by many to have considered buying its own photo-sharing service in the wake of Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram – valued at around $1 billion at the time. “After meeting with and appraising some companies, Twitter’s executives decided the price tags were not worth the goods, and decided the company could build its own filters instead,” reported the Times.
Try to think to pick the Instagram App icon and try to make a real camera. This is the main idea at the base of Instagram Socialmatic Project. Since Facebook has bought Instagram for nearly a billion dollars in cash and stock, many users, bloggers, economy experts have thought Instagram could build its first real photo camera. So that it’s!!
Socialmatic is the first Instagram photo camera, with a lot of amazing features:
- 16 GB mass storage;
- Wifi and Bluetooth;
- 4:3 touchscreen;
- 2 main lens, first for main capture, second for 3D filters, webcam applications and QR Code capturing;
- Optical zoom;
- Led Flash;
- Internal printer to make your Instagram photos real;
- Paper cartridge with Instagram Paper Sheets;
- Dedicated 4 colors ink tanks;
- InstaOs 1.0, which put together Facebook and Instagram App feature;
Take your shoot with Instagram Socialmatic, make your photo cool as you want and share it directly on Facebook trough the powerful InstaOs.
If you want, you can print it directly on Instagram Paper Sheets, thanks to the internal printer. Every Instagram printed photo reports on front side your Instagram nickname and a QR code, to be followed by another Instagrammer, simply pointing his/her Socialmatic on your printed QR Code. This because Instagram Paper Sheets has a retro side with a glue strip, just like a post-it. You can share in the real world your photo, printing your emotions and sensations And if you want, on the bottom of front side of your printed photo, you’ve a dedicated space to write something, just like to comment a photo on Facebook, but in the real world…Do you remember the old Polaroid photos?
But for now Instagram Socialmatic is only a concept. Dont treat it as real. It maybe could became real in one day.
The wait had no more for Android User. Android Users can now enjoy the beautiful photo app which is Instagram. The company had just released the Instagram for Android Version without any much fanfare. Click on for the download link for Instagram for Android.
For now, any phone running Android 2.2 or above (with support for OpenGL ES 2) is compatible, but Android tablets are not. There’s a maximum resolution support of 2,048 x 2,048, and the company assures us that the “exact same filters and algorithms are implemented on both [iOS and Android builds], so there is no difference in the output other than the raw image quality that differs between phones.” Eager to get going?
