This is my first year of attending TEDxKL 2012. This year TEDxKL Theme are talking on Interdependence. On the Saturday I attended TEDxKL talks at Temple of Fine Arts, Brickfields. The talks was Interdependence and unexpectedly there was little mention of Interdependence. I attended with few of my friends which is Cindy Khoo, Curry Khoo, Hakimi, Samuel Loh, and Yee Ling Neo. It was really a awesome event for me. When i reach, i went for registration then take the passes. After that i meet up with Michael Teoh Su Lim and chit chatting with him while waiting my friends to reach. TEDxKL had delivery some message, the message that delivery are interdependence between people, of people and their environment both built and natural and the striving of young people to bring some heart and accountability to this country.
What is TEDx? TEDx is In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxKL, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxKL event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Over 800 Audiences was in TEDxKL 2012. There will be three session going on the event. First Session Khairil Yusof had speak about Making Malaysia Government Transparents & Accountable with open Data, Jo Kukathas speak about Joining the Dots, Goh Sze Ying speaking about City: A work in Progress and Zann Huang speak about Breaking the rules. Check it out Froya, Michelle Lee or more popularly known to her fans as Froya, is a singer with a repertoire that one can only describes as eclectic. Covering a range of genres from folk and electronica to pop, this talented lass discovered her calling out of a simple songwriting venture that turned into a career. Goh Sze Ying. Visual designer and custodian of #BetterKL. Sze Ying is the custodian of #BetterKL, a campaign that calls upon urbanites to generate, innovate and participate in the social development of this city they call home. The film and animation major believes in combining multiple disciplines in practice, projects and processes, carrying this faith throughout her previous tenures as a visual and UI designer. Sze Ying was also responsible for Box Of Ideas, a crowdsourced creative art initiative in 2009 and 2010.http://about.me/sze
I love to share my experience and knowledge about the event. TEDxKL is the place and platform for people to pass on their ideas, concept, opinions. Malaysia Entrepreneurs have been the official organizer for the TEDx conference in Malaysia. The 4th TEDxKL will continue to showcase top presenters of diverse fields sharing their passions and inspirations with a wide audience. TEDxKL will be held on the 14th of July 2012. The theme of the conference is “Interdependence”. We have invited 2 TED speakers to Malaysia for this event.
They are Derek Sivers, the founder of CDBaby. He created one of the world’s largest music market place and after he sold his company. He donated everything to charity. Derek has spoken in a few TED and his talks have reached over 5 million views. Also we have invited Myskhin who spoke in TED in Long Beach this Febuary. His talk has capture imagination for creating a low cost device which enables us to detect a blood desease without the need to giving blood.
This year TEDxKL gonna be held at Temple of Fine Arts which located at Jalan Berhala, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event started from 12.30pm to 7.30pm. Every person need to get the TEDxKL Ticket by Paying RM 100.00 for Online Registration and RM 130.00 for Walk-In Registration. This year TEDxKL Topic are more on Interdependence.
